Osoyoos Oyster Festival Travel Diary

I recently had the most fun weekend trip to Osoyoos with Avenue PR! Our purpose of the trip was for the Osoyoos Oyster Festival, so if you’re an oyster and wine lover like me, you’ll want to stay for all the details! The Oyster Festival is an annual event focused on sustainable and ethically sourced seafood. It features wine and cocktail pairings plus an outdoor food-truck market!

Stay
We were lucky to have stayed at the Watermark Beach Resort on the beach in one of the Beachfront Vacation Villas. These 2 bedroom townhomes were so spacious! They would be perfect and comfortable for a family (and a dog!) or even a getaway with a small group of friends. Each suite includes a gourmet kitchen, but my favourite part was definitely the deck. The view was gorgeous! I love the lake view and there’s even a barbecue so you can prepare the perfect Summer meal!

The Watermark has a wonderful restaurant and a pool as well! The location is very convenient too, being walking distance from bike rentals, a yoga studio, cafes, and the shops of Downtown Osoyoos. The hotel’s main building also has rooms with beautiful mountain or lake views. Each room has a balcony and we were fortunate to have had the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine on the Penthouse’s balcony.

Eat
It was the Oyster Festival after all, so of course I had a lot of Oysters! We went to two events during our stay, the first was the “Journey of the Four Food Chiefs” at Spirit Ridge Resort. It took place on the their vineyard patio and featured Indigenous-inspired cuisine along with cocktails, wine stations, and live entertainment.

The second was the Seafood Soiree at the Watermark Beach Resort. There were multiple food stations where chefs prepared multi-course meals of sustainable seafood and a number of drink stations to sample local wineries’ latest releases. There was even a dance floor to dance the night away!

Play
One of my favourite activities during the trip was the wine tour we did on electric bikes with Heatstroke Cycle. Yes, you read correctly – ELECTRIC bikes! I’ve never done anything like this before and it definitely won’t be my last. The weather was so beautiful that a wine tour just seemed more fun on a bike than in a vehicle. We got to enjoy the sunshine and if we got tired, we didn’t have to pedal because the bike is electric!

This was a 2 night press trip at the Watermark Beach Resort where Avenue PR was so gracious to host me for the Osoyoos Oyster Festival. It was my first time staying in Osoyoos and I’ll definitely be coming back many times with my friends, family, and dog!
