The temperature has drastically dropped in Vancouver recently and my skin has already been affected by it. Every year when the seasons change, it’s a struggle for me to keep my dry and sensitive skin moisturized, especially during the winter. I felt like the skincare gods heard me this year and I was so excited that Olay reached out for me to partner up again and try their new Ultra Rich Moisturizer. It’s the brand’s new addition to it’s red jar collection and sister product of the Olay Micro Sculpting cream I previously wrote about – this new Ultra Rich Moisturizer is packaged in the same red jar, has the same great price point, with a richer formula to instantly hydrate and visibly firm skin, and the same amazing results for me.

I believe that ingredients are what make a product, plus because Olay has over 70 years of skin science experience, I was so excited to try this new moisturizer. Olay’s formula is crafted with hydrating ingredients to help your skin look and feel visibly renewed. The 3 ingredients that make it for me, 2 of which were present in the Micro Sculpting cream and the new star ingredient, Olay’s special shea butter blend, combined give it the rich, thick, and smooth as silk consistency.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Amino Peptides: These 2 ingredients were present in the Micro Sculpting cream and I’m pleased to find them in this new Ultra Rich Moisturizer formula. Niacinamide (or Vitamin B3) is a water-soluble vitamin that can help minimize pores, smooth uneven skin, and soften fine lines and wrinkles. Amino Peptides are essential for helping the skin maintain its smoothness, firmness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I look for these in every anti-aging product I reach for and am loving Olay’s special formula.

Special Shea Butter Blend: This is my favourite ingredient in the product and what helps make the formula ultra rich. Shea butter is a proven moisturizer that has soothing and anti-aging properties which may make skin appear smoother and reduce signs of aging. Olay’s special shea butter blend is formulated to absorb and penetrate the skin easily to reduce the greasy feel shea butter leaves on its own, a serious game-changer! 

As the name suggests, this moisturizer is ultra rich as it claims. What truly impressed me though is that it didn’t give me a greasy finish (which I was a bit worried about with shea butter as an ingredient). Personally, for my extra dry skin, the shea butter blend makes a huge difference in comparison to other moisturizers without it. I’ve only been using this product for 2 weeks and it definitely works with my skin in this cold and dry Canadian weather.

I also do have sensitive skin and since this moisturizer is fragrance free, it was a big plus for me. In addition to being fragrance free, this moisturizer is also made without parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, or synthetic dyes – this is how I knew my sensitive skin would agree with it.

If you live somewhere cold and dry, I urge you to try this cream! It’s my favourite drugstore product at the moment and has a great value! You won’t have to splurge to try something new, but it’s a nice way to treat your skin to a dose of luxury with this rich and luxurious formula. This red jar has my heart and I think you’ll love it too!
