Mother Daughter Time at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort

Mother’s Day has passed, but I don’t think it’s ever a bad time for mother daughter bonding time. This year, I took my mom on an early Mother’s Day spa getaway to Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort in Parksville. There’s no place like this in the city in Vancouver, so it was definitely worth the trip. We took the ferry and spent a wonderful two nights on the island and returned feeling completely rejuvenated.

Oceanview Deluxe Suite
The resort kindly set us up in their newly renovated Oceanview Deluxe Suites. Our room was amazing – it had gorgeous water views and was only steps from the beach. The suite had a full kitchen, which is super convenient and feels just like home. All the furniture had a charming rustic feel, exactly what you would want for a getaway like this. And our balcony was spacious, and of course had a breathtaking view of the water. I felt so lucky to be able to wake up to this every morning there.

Beach Access
The entire resort is laid out in a way where you can easily walk to anywhere. I loved how close we were to the beach (just minutes), and to get to the restaurant and spa was only about a 5 minute walk. If you want to be closer to the spa, they do have spa bungalows as well that are closer.

Grotto Spa
The spa is a cell-phone free zone, which I really appreciated. While I often work from my phone, it was nice having some time to myself without it, just to unwind and clear my mind. Since I couldn’t take any photos of the facilities myself, the resort voided me some to share, but even they don’t do it justice!

I got an Eminence Facial which was amazing, my skin felt so healthy, hydrated, and was glowing after – I’d definitely recommend this if your skin needs some love! Afterwards I received a makeup application with all Jane Iredale products. After the facial, this made me look and feel like a million bucks.

Treetop Tapas & Grill
A stop to the Treetop Tapas & Grill is a must if you’re visiting the spa already. I love how you have to be in your spa robe to dine here, and that it’s still a cell-phone free zone. The serving style here is endless tapas – there were a variety of wonderful dishes so you get to try a little bit of everything as they bring it out dish by dish. By the end I was stuffed, but they give you the option to re-order any dish you loved if you’re still hungry!

Another dining option is the Cedars Restaurant & Lounge. The atmosphere is great and the food is amazing. They also do Pizza for takeout!

Gift Shop
Before leaving I popped by the gift shop to see what trinkets were available. They have a great selection of jewelry, other accessories, and locally crafted items – from candles to soaps. I especially loved the packaging of these products.

I know I will definitely come back here, it was special being able to spend time with my mom like this and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend some quality time with their mother too. This would also make a long weekend trip, great girl’s spa getaway, and some of their cabin’s are pet friendly so you can bring your furry pooch with you too!
