Why I’m Addicted to Eyelash Extensions

Hi guys! I have a confession… I’m an eyelash extension addict. I’ve been getting them done since Summer of 2014, and I’m not giving them up any time soon.

I get a lot of questions about committing to eyelash extensions long term. The biggest myth is that lash extensions damage your natural lashes. From my experience, they do not (and I’ve been getting them done for over 2 years). My biggest tip would be to find a studio or artist that you like/trust, and stick with them. My second tip is to use a lash growth serum if you are concerned – you can apply it nightly even with your extensions on.

I’ve been going to Prep Beauty Parlour for my lash extensions for over 2 years (all the girls are great) and I use Plume Science Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum religiously to keep them (and my brows) healthy.

Here are a few tips from questions I’ve received over time about lash extensions. Note that I get synthetic mink lashes and just regular classic extensions (not russian volume or 2D/3D).

How often do you need a touch up?
I go every 3 weeks to get them filled – they take about an hour for each appointment.

Can you get them wet?
Keep them dry for 24 hours after your appointment. After that, you can shower, swim, or go into a sauna/steam room. I wouldn’t be too harsh, like face the shower head while showering though, but even just a few tears here and there is fine.

Do your natural lashes fall out?
Your natural lashes do fall out over time, but it’s nothing to panic about since it happens even without lash extensions. The girls at my studio would tell me if they notice that my lashes are getting sparse – so make sure you have someone you trust! Also, avoid rubbing your eyes or tugging/pulling your lashes with extensions.

What lash growth serum do you use?
I use Plume science lash & brow enhancing serum when I started to get worried about my lashes getting more sparse. I don’t apply it the first 24 hours after a fresh set of extensions, but after that I apply it every night and it helps to keep my lashes full and luscious – also my brows too!

Do you need to use mascara?
No, not on your top lashes since they’ll be full and dramatic enough. I still apply mascara to my bottom lashes though. Some people apply mascara to the tip of their top lashes, which is fine. Just make sure to clean them off every night! Clean lash extensions last longer.

Hope this was helpful and informative to you all! Let me know if you have more questions and I’m happy to share 🙂
